Craig Frazier's Living Letters

Craig Frazier, award winning children's book author, designed an animal alphabet for Adobe and partnered with Daily Interactive to transform the alphabet into an interactive book for the iPad. I worked with Craig to design, build, and ship Living Letters for the iPad. The app featured an interactive alphabet and touch-enhanced games and activities.

How-To for 4-6 Year Olds

In the early days of the iPad kids were still learning how to tap and swipe to view experiences on mobile devices.  The application included simple “how-to” instructions to ensure parents and kids had a great first run experience with the app.

Each page began with a bold colorful letter.

As letters resolved, the animal name appeared accompanied by pronunciations.

The final transition resolved into Craig's beautiful illustrations

Adding Life to a Kid's Classic

Living Letters gave young kids a fun and interactive way to learn the alphabet by tapping on Craig’s illustrated letters. When tapped, each letter included transition to the illustrated letter and a narrated pronunciation of the animal.

“I can’t explain it but there is something totally magical about touching the screen and watching a big fat letter turn into a full color critter.”

– Craig Frazier, author of Living Letters

Interacting with the Alphabet

The iPad book included fun ways for kids to connect with the interactive alphabet  including a touch, friend, word-find game, a complete tappable alphabet interface that included a pronunciation of each letter, and a cool keyboard for typing out words and messages using the characters.
